Discover Ruby departs Dürnstein at 12:00 PM.  As we sail the Danube to our next port, we will enjoy Scenic Cruising of the Wachau Valley. Savor the inspiring mid-day vistas of this remarkable region, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage cultural site for “a landscape of high visual quality,” enroute to our afternoon call in Melk, home of the medieval Melk Benedictine Abbey.

This afternoon, our ship will dock in Melk, where we will visit one of the best-preserved medieval abbeys of the world – the Melk Benedictine Abbey.

Discover Ruby will remain docked in Passau overnight.

Our tour begins shortly after arrival in Passau, with a leisurely scenic drive into the Czech Republic through the Bohemian countryside, to visit the town of Česky Krumlov. You will never forget this small old town located in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic.  Its delightful atmosphere is, in large part, due to its good fortune in escaping the bombings of the Second World War – allowing the town to keep its medieval identity intact to this day. Its historic center has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

We will visit the Česky Krumlov Castle (dating from 1240), the late Gothic St. Vitus Church, and walk the pedestrian cobbled streets. Enjoy some free time at a local café, or discover further on your own, before we return to Passau for our final dinner aboard Discover Ruby.

After dinner, we will have a short evening walking tour of Passau, during which we will be able to soak up all the amazing ambiance this special city has to offer.
